The Benefits of Baking Soda & Lemon Juice

This simple drink has some natural antioxidant and alkalising properties that can help energise our system as we start the day. As 70% of our bodies are water, this helps to stop the body becoming too acidic and has some powerful properties to fight infection.

It’s easy to make, just pour a glass of cool water, add half the juice of a lemon and half a teaspoon of baking soda and drink as, in the morning before eating for full effect.

It’s a glass filled with antioxidants and recommended daily or when on a detox. I started to take it on a recent cleanse and immediately felt the benefits.


Helps to neutralise the body, aiding the liver and kidneys to remove toxins and burn fats.

This great anti acid remedy helps to combat acid reflex and flatulence.

It helps to purify the liver and provides your daily vitamin C, potassium and antioxidants. The Lemon can help boost enzyme production, aiding nutrient absorption and waste removal.

Baking soda restores your body after the acidic affects of alcohol, neutralising stomach acid.

Lemons are a great source of vitamin C, which helps flight infection. There have also been studies reporting the benefits of vitamin C to fight chronic diseases.

Boosts Energy

Many athletes take this to give them extra energy. A Loughborough University study found that eight out of nine swimmers who took baking soda before a race improved their times dramatically!

After a couple of weeks trying this drink you should feel cleaner and energised. Due to the sodium do not over do the baking soda in the drink and those with high blood pressure, heart disease or other medical conditions should get medical advice before taking.

The drink is well worth trying and is a great pick me up especially after a party! It’s now an established part of my daily routine.
