Midlife Sex
Sex doesn’t have to stop at midlife!
Who said sex had to stop at midlife? Or worse, become a chore?
Sex and the way we feel about it changes over time, but intimacy doesn’t have to stop as you age, although you may not have the body you once had, neither has he! His testosterone levels have also dropped which can make sex more difficult, speaking freely with your partner and seeking medical assistance is a start. There are many options ranging from supplemental hormone therapy with oestrogen or testosterone to medications, lubricants and counselling.
Organise ‘date nights’ and stick to them, they don’t have to cost much, a summer stroll through a park, a bike ride or a meal out, quality time spent together without distractions will make you realise what attracted you in the first place!
Part of the trick to maintaining a healthy sex life through middle age and beyond is maintaining your health! You can start by watching your diet, exercising regularly and managing stress.
