Our first midlife event – a great success!

After launching in 2017, and building a large community on social media, Rejuvage launched our first ever pop-up event in Covent Garden, London, which was completely sold out!

As the UK’s first positive midlife health and wellbeing destination, we wanted to give our fantastic followers a chance to talk to experts about all things midlife – no subject was off the table! Our unique line-up of expert speakers discussed hot-topics including the menopause, sex, relationships, orgasms and more:

Kathy Abernethy MClinSci RN – Menopause Specialist & Chairman of The British Menopause Society and author of Menopause: A One Stop Guide

Sarah Doherty BA (Hons); FdA; PG Dip; MBACP, COSRT – Sex and Relationship Therapist

Renee Denyer – Sh! Women’s Erotic Emporium, Manager

It was an exciting step for Rejuvage and certainly provoked some engaging discussions with our over 40s community! It’s surprising what a couple of glasses of fizz can do! There were many laughs and secrets shared along with extremely informative and enlightening discussions which has left everyone asking for us to host another event.

Sarah Doherty

Sarah had plenty to say about relationships, opening with ‘I don’t fancy my partner these days!’ as a common concern from people visiting her clinic. She went on to explain that a lot of women seem to have lost their libido as they have aged, resulting in a loss of desire for their partner, but when they do have sex they really enjoy it! She enlightened us on the fact that men’s sexual desire is not normally affected by negative life experiences as some women are. She also talked about loving your body as your partner does and encouraged us to relax and breathe to allow time to be less self-critical and more accepting.

Kathy Abernethy

Kathy was fantastic – a wealth of knowledge about the menopause! She mentioned that 25% of women have symptoms which are severe enough to affect their lives, but that only half of them seek help, shocking really! Discussing the benefits of HRT and alternative medication, Kathy was bombarded with questions, especially as a lot of women explained the lack of understanding and advice they had experienced from their own GPs.

Renee Denyer

Well where do I begin! Renee’s discussion was very open about the self-discovery of women’s vaginas and how each are so different. She had a hands-on display of various ‘toys’ that kept the room literally buzzing. For those women needing to workout their pelvic floor muscles, Renee showed an ingenious weighted ball that you insert in the vagina and squeeze it tight to retain in, aka the vagina gym!

Nicky Gaynor

Nicky talked about the benefits of Sylk, a vagina lubricant which is a necessary item for those ‘dry’ days! The product is all-natural with ingredients derived from plants, which also makes it suitable for women who have suffered from cancer.

Goody bags

Our generous sponsors filled our goody bags with some of their amazing products and everyone went away with a greater vision of midlife.

We will be hosting another event this year so sign up to our newsletter for the next announcement and make sure you join us!

A big thanks to Lumitylife, Sylk, Sh!womenstore, Saskiafloweressences!
