This is what Meghan Markle has to say about the Clean Program to restore the body’s natural ability to heal itself who is undergoing the programme prior to her big wedding day.
“I met Dr Junger and his CEO Dhru Purohit a few years ago, after suffering from a lifetime of debilitating migraines and ENT problems. Let me just say this – my life has never been the same.
The approach is not stringent, nor is it restrictive – frankly, it’s just smart. Minor tweaks and changes, analyzing what is really going on in your system, and making the subtle shifts to improve your overall wellbeing.
I can’t begin to express the level of gratitude I have for this team, who are influencing the lives of so many people in the Clean Community and beyond.”
Meghan’s 7 tips, a truthful balanced guide.
1. Invest some time for yourself
“I give myself the luxury of downtime. We are all so incredibly busy and juggling so many things, but always take an hour to just decompress, watch mindless TV, snuggle with my dogs and enjoy a glass of wine. That’s all part of the investment. It’s a balance.”
2. Stay motivated
“My health, my state of mind, the feeling you have after a workout; all of these things drive me to step onto my mat or go to the gym. Sometimes the idea of working out sounds absolutely dreadful, but I always remind myself of how good it will feel afterwards. Euphoric, almost!”
3. Practice Yoga
“My mum was a yoga instructor so that practice is in my blood. I love an intense vinyasa class – and even better if it’s blasting hip pop and done in a dark room with candlelight. The best!”
4. Meditate through exercise
“Running has always been my form of moving meditation, which I relish because it allows me to get out of my head. I also work closely with a personal trainer when filming Suits in Toronto.”
5. Train with a friend
“I’m eager to come to the UK to do a workout with Russell (Bateman), the founder of SBC. My friend Millie Macintosh raves about his workouts so I’ll call Millie up to do a class together next time I’m back in London.”
6. Embrace your unique features
“When I look in the mirror I see my freckles. And I love them.”
7. Don’t forget to breathe
“Slowly and Mindfully.”
Not only is Meghan impressed with the Clean 21-day diet programme, Gwyneth Paltrow swears by his teachings, stating his 21-day Clean Program is the one to try.
About the author, Dr Alejandro Junger
Dr Alejandro Junger graduated from medical school in 1990 and moved to New York City for his postgraduate training. Following three years of training in Internal Medicine at NYU Downtown Hospital and three more years of fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at Lenox Hill Hospital. His change in lifestyle and diet from his move to New York soon manifested as IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and depression. This shocked him into a journey for an alternative solution to medicine for his health issues.
His first book, Clean, describes the benefit of detoxing and how detoxing has been around for many years. Dr Junger explains that during this time you would eat in a certain way to create the best conditions for the body to work the detox effectively. During this time of detox, the body will need to be provided with certain nutrients (amino-acids, vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, enzymes…) to safely and effectively handle the chemical transformation of toxins into harmless molecules that can be eliminated from our system. An interesting and exciting read and now with the new program out it is full of inspiration and easy to follow plans.
