Enjoying Sex over 50: Ulrika Johnson Enjoys It More than in Her 30’s!

Like the weather, the presenter Ulrika Johnson (53) has had many seasons of her love life and has openly shared how her marriage was lacking in intimacy. The good news is that things are hotting up now, as she shares in her recent column for Best Magazine.

“In my 50s my approach to sex has changed so considerably I have to say I’m enjoying sex now, whenever I can access it, just as much as in my 30s if not more.

I may not feel as confident with my body as I did when I was younger but there is a real feeling of just wanting to feel that passion again and keeping holding on to that feeling for as long as possible.”

Like many women, Ulrika was concerned about the impact of midlife and menopause on her sexuality. The combination of hot flushes, weight gain, anxiety, tiredness and changing hormones can affect your attitude to sex.  But she was not ready to give up on being a sexual creature and is determined to make the most of her sexuality.

“I now have more years behind me than I do in front of me and I want to make sure I really squeeze in any bits of special loving I can.’

Showcasing the power of body positivity and attitude, Ulrika describes herself as a ‘sexual creature’. And even though she says on social media she does not feel as confident about her body as she did when she was younger she is not letting this hold her back.

In fact Ulrika has openly talked in her column about the fact she is enjoying sex more in her fifties that in her thirties. It highlights that it is possible to reignite your inner sexual goddess! This sexual creature emerged after after a marriage to Brian Monet where she only had sex once in eight years. Now she has changed her approach:

“In my 50s my approach to sex has changed so considerably I have to say I’m enjoying sex now, whenever I can access it, just as much as in my 30s if not more.

I may not feel as confident with my body as I did when I was younger but there is a real feeling of just wanting to feel that passion again and keeping holding on to that feeling for as long as possible.”

Breaking down the taboos, Ulrika shares experiences many mid life women go through such as a lack of communication that leads to lack of intimacy, the menopause and losing confidence in your body.

The one big message that comes through is not to give up on being a ‘sexual creature’. Ulrika struggled with her confidence, a marriage ending and the menopause but she was not ready to give up. She talked and took steps to build her confidence back up and is enjoying great sex – which sounds a great way to head into 2021!
