At 70 years of age, Carolyn Hartz’s physique is stunning.

Carolyn originally quit sugar 28 years ago after a diabetes scare and to compensate for the slowing metabolism that comes with age, so she could stay in shape.

Talking to the Daily Mail Carolyn explains, “I have been sugar-free for 28 years. It was difficult at first as I was a sugar addict but I believe it is one of the most important reasons I have been able to keep myself healthy and keep my body shape.”

Carolyn continues, “I make sure I eat protein with every meal especially breakfast. It stops the cravings.”

She has also launched a company, SweetLife with sugar-free alternatives and recipes, which makes the lifestyle easier.

Carolyn admits she has had some cosmetic work done, although mentions it’s not one of the main reasons for her youthful physique.

There are many signs of ageing which consuming refined sugar can cause, including wrinkles and loss of skin firmness, plus the food is calorie dense with 387 calories in 100 grams.

A sugar-free diet will definitely help preserve youthful skin and is a great step towards weight control, although it’s tricky. With side effects of ditching the sweet including lethargy, headaches and irritable mood.

The grandmother of four also avoids the sun, aware of the ageing effects of the sun’s rays, wearing sunscreen daily under her makeup.

Carolyn Hartz gives some sound advice to the Daily Mail, particularly in the digital age of social media. She explains you should never compare yourselves to others,

“Be aware of what you like about them and let them inspire you but we are all individuals and we all have our own special traits… be happy for your friend’s successes, enjoy them together. Never be jealous or resentful, both are wasted emotions and only hurt your wellbeing.”
