The Big Post-Christmas Detox – Where To Start

An image of a christmas tree in a bin.

So, we had the Christmas parties, the ‘blow out’ dinner, rich puddings, cream, chocolates and of course excess alcohol! We’ve all overindulged and now we’re facing the aftermath. Amongst guilt you’re feeling sluggish, bloated and the expected Christmas weight has appeared in full force.

Foods high in sugars and carbohydrates can leave you feeling drowsy during the digestion process sometimes for the rest of your day!  Drinking water daily keeps you hydrated and can reduce the feeling of fatigue after eating, it can also fill you up so you eat less!

The best Post-Christmas Food?

At this stage I always find myself craving a salad, cucumber, for some reason seems so refreshing!

The best foods after a heavy few days of eating are colourful fruit and veg which have tonnes of antioxidants to help flush your system, stick to lean proteins and avoid anything too heavy.

See a few of our post-Christmas detox ideas to try:

  • Turkey superfood salad with edamame beans and avocado
  • Seared salmon and asparagus
  • Veggie curry with cauliflower rice
  • Chargrilled Turkey, Quinoa with tomatoes and cucumber
  • Cod with potato slices and steamed broccoli
  • Spaghetti with spicy prawns and peppers

Beat the new-year crowd

We know we’re going to indulge over Christmas, it’s inevitable, but are we prepared for ‘getting back on track’ afterwards? Probably not! And we don’t want to think about it! That is totally understandable, but we’ll have to address it sooner or later! It can take up to 3 months to lose the overindulged pounds! That takes us to March!

What are we going to do about it? Wait until everyone goes back to work – or be ahead of the game!  There is nothing worse than walking into the cold gym in January that’s absolutely packed!

If it’s already too late and you’re waiting 10 minutes just to get onto a treadmill, then not to worry.

Have a look through our selection of YouTube HIIT workouts you can do at home with very little equipment. There’s difficulty for all levels, whether you’re a beginner or advanced!

Why not burn a few extra cals in your workout with the Zaggora leggings? Their ThermoFit™ has been proven in tests with the University of Southern California to burn more calories.

This’ll help get you back to your pre-Christmas self in no time!
