Make Skincare & The ‘Clean Skincare’ Trend!

‘Clean eating’ has changed the way we think about food. Now Make skincare range has applied the same ‘100% natural’ principles to skincare, and we love the results!

If you love natural skincare products, then the Make range of face and body creams and oils is absolutely for you. It’s formulated using only active natural essential oils and plant-based ingredients – rosehip, Moringa oil, geranium, sandalwood, rose and lavender essential oils, for instance.

Each product is handmade in small batches and entirely from scratch in a converted barn in Somerset by founder Mary Temperley.

“I use only the finest quality natural ingredients in my products. Making them myself and to my own recipe is very much like cooking – it’s done with care, and I really enjoy the positive feedback from customers as a result.”

Mary has a background in the creative industry – she previously worked as Commercial Director for Temperley, her sister Alice’s fashion label – so why switch to skincare?

“I studied skincare and the powerful effects of natural ingredients, but it was only when one of my sons developed eczema that I put that knowledge into practice… The natural product I created really helped manage his condition and that inspired me to go on to formulate a skincare range.”

Having investigated the individual qualities and mutually beneficial actions of each ingredient, Mary tailor-made products for specific areas of the body. Each is nourishing to the skin, easily absorbed and a fragrant joy to use.
With a nod to Mary’s fashion career, the range comes in gorgeous and brightly coloured glass bottles or jars (great for giving as gifts, too!).

My favourite from the range is Make Face Reveal (£14, 100ml), an oil-based cleanser with Japanese camellia seed oil to leave skin supple, as well as rose, geranium, sandalwood and lavender essential oils, and Vitamin E.

I use it in the evening with a flannel to double cleanse – first to remove make up and surface grime, then again to deep cleanse, and it leaves my skin so supple and soft, with no oily residue and none of the tightness often associated with wash-off cleansers.

Make Face Glow (£22, 30ml) is another essential. This facial oil is described as a potent active blend of natural plant oils: these include Rosehip oil which is full of vitamins and essential fatty acids to protect and heal the skin and Moringa oil that gives the skin a luminescent glow and delivers moisture deep into the epidermis. It also contains over 20% natural vitamin E to protect your skin from free radical damage, alongside a rejuvenating blend of pure rose otto, geranium, sandalwood and lavender essential oils, flower extracts, evening primrose oils and chamomile.

I use Face Glow in the morning and it delivers a gorgeous glow across the skin and smoothes my skin beautifully ahead of make up. As with all the other products, it has a heady essential oil aroma, which I love. It’s easy to see why this is one of the most popular products in the range.
