Hydrafacial: Fast Track To A Celebrity Glow

By @Adelemitchell

Hydrafacial is a fast, fabulous pro-age facial that leaves your skin gleaming – no wonder it’s a celebrity favourite. Melanie Sykes and Karren Brady are both fans, and we think it’s a great way to get your glow on ahead of a busy summer social season (or just a big night out!).

Rejuvage visited leading skin clinic Absolute Aesthetics to try Hydrafacial out.

When it comes to skin treatments, results are everything. And if time is tight and our schedules packed, we want walk away with our skin looking its absolute best, instantly.

In just one hour, Hydrafacial promises to transform and treat your complexion.

The six-stage treatment combines lymphatic drainage, cleansing and exfoliating, brightening, extraction, hydration and LED light treatment. It’s designed to detoxify the skin, remove dead skin cells, extract blackheads and provide long lasting hydration and essential nutrients to protect and rebuild collagen levels.

Patented Vortex technology delivers nutrient-rich botanical ingredients including hyaluronic acid and peptides into the skin, as well as powerful antioxidants to counteract the free radical damage that can accelerate the ageing process.

Repeat the treatment regularly, and results are improved and maintained.

So much for the science – but does it work?

In my past experience, results-led skin treatments tend to involve a little suffering (micro-needling and some skin peels, for instance!) and even a few days recovery time before you see the final result. So it was a joy (and a bit of a relief, tbh) to discover that Hydrafacial is non-invasive, pain-free and requires no recovery time: you just sit up at the end of the treatment, and glow!

It’s a very relaxing (which probably also helps the results!) but thorough treatment, delivered via a handheld device, that combines the use of glucosamine and lactic acid to cleanse and exfoliate, a glycolic and salicylic acid peel (tingle-free!), suction to clear the pores (very effectively!), antioxidants and hyaluronic acid for hydration. A LED light is also used to smooth the skin tone.

I was gleaming by the end – and my skin felt like velvet. And the best thing was, with no recovery time needed, I could leave the clinic and get on with my day.
